Local Authority funding is one of the key elements of support in helping the BSO deliver a wide ranging programme of high quality professional orchestral music and education/community work across the South and South West of England. Securing long term arts funding is not easy when local authority budgets are required to cover an ever increasing variety of needs. Work on maintaining existing relationships and cultivating new ones is an ongoing task which is coordinated and administered through a dedicated post within the BSO's management team. Currently, the BSO receives funding from 21 authorities across the region ranging from large County and Unitary authorities, to smaller district councils. Each and every one matters and plays a vital part in underpinning the longer term financial stability of the BSO.
