BSO Discography
The name of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is known across the world with a discography of over 300 recordings. The Litton/BSO/BSC recording of Belshazzar’s Feast was awarded a GRAMMY at the New York ceremony in February 1997 and a GRAMOPHONE Award was given for the Orchestra’s Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.2 with Peter Donohoe. In 2000 the Naxos recording of Anthony Payne’s sketches for Elgar’s Symphony No.3 with Paul Daniel was also nominated for a GRAMOPHONE Award and remained in the UK Classical Chart Top Ten for the entire year! 2002 saw further recognition with two GRAMMY nominations for a recording of American music with Jose Serebrier and Philip Quint, with further GRAMMY nominations in 2004 for the CD of music by Ned Rorem. The BSO continues to be the most frequently recorded symphony orchestra in the UK thanks to an ongoing relationship with NAXOS, with more than eight releases each year. Recent highly acclaimed recordings include discs of Bernstein, Glass, Adams, Sibelius, Bartok, Stokowski, Copland, Stanford Mussorgsky, Weill, Vaughan Williams and Elgar.
All the recent Naxos CDs are available on sale (or can be ordered) at the BSO table in the foyer of most concerts in Poole, Portsmouth, Bristol, Exeter and Southampton. A comprehensive selection of CDs can also be purchased online via our NaxosDirect store.
